Training overview

Many challenges faced by modern society require extensive partnerships and collaboration of organisations, teams and individuals from multiple disciplines and sectors. Building skills for working across sectors is not a luxury – it is a necessity in the 21st century.

This training is based on Dr Sandra Mandic’s book Compass Guide: Secrets of Successful Cross-Sector Collaborations and her extensive experience with cross-sectoral work, including successfully initiating, growing, leading and managing the award-winning BEATS Research Programme (2013-2023).

Training objectives

This training will help participants translate experience-based, often tacit knowledge into practical insights to strengthen their skills for cross-sectoral work.

Training objectives are:

  • To introduce a framework for planning and managing cross-sector collaborations
  • To share insights from a world-class example of a successful cross-sector research collaboration
  • To provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on and share their experiences with cross-sectoral work

More specific training objectives can be created based on clients’ needs, target audience, desired training outcomes and chosen training modality.

For example, this training could be delivered with a focus on the project management lens, team leadership lens, strategic leadership and governance lens or interdisciplinary research lens. Contact us to discuss your needs and we will design a customised version of this training for your organisation.

This training is relevant to professionals from various sectors who are interested in or participating in cross-sectoral initiatives, including researchers, academics, policy makers, practitioners, consultants, programme leaders and project and programme managers.
